Most
of the organizations listed on our
"Resources
and Links" page offer support for family and friends as well
as to the individual dealing with unwanted homosexual feelings.
However, you may want to note these in particular:
Online
Support Group for Wives
This group is for wives of men who were formerly homosexually
oriented, are currently struggling with unwanted homosexuality,
or are now actively involved in homosexuality. Husbands of former
or currently struggling lesbians are also welcome. The group was
set up by a married couple who survived and overcame the husband's
addictive involvement with homosexuality. The husband established

Parents
and Friends of Ex-Gays (PFOX) was formed as a recovery-oriented
alternative to the pro-homosexuality group Parents and Friends
of Lesbians and Gays. PFOX describes itself as "a Christ-centered
network of parents, friends and families of loved ones struggling
with same sex attractions. PFOX supports, educates and offers
hope to those families whose lives have been affected by homosexuality.
We want our children, friends, and other loved ones to know that
it is possible for them to transition out of homosexuality, and
that we will always love and cherish them regardless of their
choice. PFOX shows families and friends how to be a positive presence
in their loved one’s life." PFOX sends out by postal mail a quarterly
newsletter on what's happening in the ex-gay community. To subscribe,
send an email to griggs@erols.com with your mailing address and
request to be placed on the PFOX Press mailing list.
PFOX
will also host an 'understanding-and-healing-homosexuality' conference
in your area for strugglers, family and friends of strugglers,
educators and clergy members. PFOX provides the materials and
speakers, PFOX National Director Regina Griggs and ex-gay psychotherapist
Richard Cohen, who will discuss the meaning and causes of same
sex attractions, the process of transitioning from gay to straight,
healing activities, reparenting techniques, how to love the struggler
without approving of his or her homosexual lifestyle, and more.
You or your church provide the meeting space for the conference.
Many churches and families do not know how to respond to the divisive
issue of homosexuality, so we encourage you to call PFOX at 703-739-8220
or send an email to griggs@erols.com
to discuss planning a conference in your area.
PFOX
sponsors an e-mail discussion group at Yahoo Groups. "It is comprised
mainly of parents and spouses of strugglers, although we have
some strugglers on the list. We support each other daily via email.
Members can read the email postings or join in the discussion
at any time with their particular day to day hopes and struggles.
To join, send a blank email to: ex-gay-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
