This
may be hard to hear, Moms, but you can be the most support by
loving unconditionally and then stepping back into a support role
to your son's father or other male mentors. Your son may be over-identified
with you. Perhaps the apron strings may never have been fully
broken. You can do the most good now w by pushing your son to
turn to heterosexual men and male "elders" or mentors for advice
and support, rather than to you. You can support his father in
this role, if possible, or help your son find a "father figure"
to mentor him -- but then step out of the way and, at most, work
behind the scenes helping the mentor to understand your son's
needs.
Aside
from that, of course, simply pray for him. The private prayers
of loving mothers have created more goodwill and healing than
the world will ever know.
